IMPORTANCE OF SIX FASTS IN SHAWWAL-Keeping six Fasts after Eid-ul-Fitr is an act of blessing and reward. According to Hadith, these fasts are of great importance. A few Hadiths are mentioned below to show their importance. Either you keep these fasts consecutively or in separate days, the reward will be same.

Ayyub Ansari narrated Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal. It would be as if he fasted perpetually.”

Which shows that the reward of fasting six days in Shawwal is same as fasting the whole month of Ramadan.

In Another Hadith narrated by Ibn Umar Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“The one who fasts for Ramadan and then six days of Shawwal, is as purified of sins as he was born just today.”

Which shows that fasting for only six days in Shawwal after an entire month of Ramadhan washes out sins and make you as purified as a new born child is.

I pray to Allah Almighty to give us all the courage to fast for six days in Shawwal after the Holy Month of Ramadan.
