Dua .. The Most Powerful Weapon of a Believer
Dua (prayer) is a conversation of humans with ALLAH (S.W.T), our Creator, our Lord and Master, the All Knowing, the All Powerful. Through Dua we can talk to ALLAH (S.W.T) whenever we want, we pour out our heart to ALLAH (S.W.T), we submit all our worries and problems to ALLAH (S.W.T).
Indeed ALLAH knows everything, but He loves to hear us, He loves to see our feelings at the time of Dua when we are asking something so desperately, He loves to see our tears when we make dua. Dua is very important in Islam; the essence of ibadah (worships).
As narrated by An-Nu’man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with them), The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alahi Waali Wasalam said,
“Dua (supplication) is worship.”
(Abu Dawud)
Sometime after so much praying we do not get the exact thing which we prayed for, but it does not mean that our Dua(s) are not accepted, because whenever we make Dua, ALLAH (S.W.T) listens. Another important point is to realize that the response to the dua may take different forms:

Either:
- ALLAH (S.W.T) will respond instantly and fulfill our desires
Or:
- He will ward off some evil from him because of the dua, or He will make something good, easy for him to attain
Or:
- Will save it with Him and will highly reward the worshiper for all his unanswered prayers on the Day of Resurrection when he needed it most.
The Prophet Mohammad Sallallahu Alahi Waali Wasalam said:
“Verily your Lord is Generous and Shy. If His servant raises his hands to Him (in supplication) He becomes shy to return them empty”
(Ahmad, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi)
So don’t think negative, don’t hear the voice of Satan, who says that your Dua(s) are not accepted, just listen the powerful and true words of ALLAH (S.W.T). ALLAH (S.W.T) has named Himself “Al-Mujeeb”, which means the One who responds. Just as we are certain that the Qur’an is true, we must be certain that ALLAH, Al-Mujeeb, will answer our call.
In Holy Quran ALLAH (S.W.T) says,
“Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”
(Surah Ghafir, Verse No. 60)
In Surah Al-Baqara, Verse no. 186 ALLAH (S.W.T) said,
“And When (O Muhammad) My worshipers ask you about Me, I am near. I answer the supplication of the suppliant when he calls to Me; therefore, let them respond to Me and let them believe in Me, in order that they will be righteous.“
So trust in ALLAH. Sometimes we get the things which we have prayed for, sometimes ALLAH S.W.T doesn’t give us the things which we want, because He is “Al-Hakeem”, He knows better what is right for us and what’s not, but surely, He always gives us what is best for us in both world. Don’t set limits to your duas. Don’t even think it is impossible to happen, because to ALLAH, nothing is impossible indeed, so ask whatever you want, whenever you ask something to ALLAH don’t see yourself, just see The Powerful ALLAH, The Lord of The Universe.
Trust Him fully, For Him, It is only “Kun, Fa Yakoon” Be and it is.
So keep praying for what you want, possibility and impossibility are merely concepts of our mind, and to ALLAH nothing is impossible indeed.
I am sharing with you a very powerful story of Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal, (R.A.) so after reading you will better understand, how powerful Dua is!
Imam Ahmed, may ALLAH be pleased with him, was once traveling and needed to stay somewhere overnight. When he went to the masjid, the guard (not recognizing Imam Ahmed) stopped him from entering. Imam Ahmed tried numerous times, but the guard did not accept his requests. Finally, Imam Ahmed resolved to spend the night in the masjid yard. The guard became furious and dragged him away, despite the old age of Imam Ahmed.
A baker, whose shop was nearby, watched this scene and out of sympathy, he invited the Imam to stay with him for the night. At his home, Imam Ahmed noticed that the baker continually made istighfaar (asking for ALLAH’s forgiveness) while working and doing other chores. The Imam eagerly asked his host about the latter’s continual seeking of forgiveness. The baker said, it had become like second nature. Imam Ahmed then asked, whether the man had experienced any reward from this practice.
The baker answered, “By ALLAH! No duaa I made was left unanswered, except one.”
“And what is that duaa?” asked Imam Ahmed.
“To be able to meet the famed Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal!”
Imam Ahmed interjected, “I am Ahmed Bin Hanbal”
He then went on to add, “By ALLAH! I was dragged to your place so that you can have your duaa wish come true.”
Just learn to trust ALLAH (S.W.T) so you can deal with everything.
“Certainly ALLAH loves those who put their trust [in Him]”
(Surah Al-I’ Imran, Verse No. 159)

I owed my brother a hefty sum of money to cover my childrens’ overseas further education. It’s been 5 years I dua for divine help in daily solat tahajud. Last month, he called to say his business was doing exceptionally well so he wrote off the IOUs. Shukur Alhamduillah. Divine aid came indirectly.
SubahanAllah !!
