Brace Yourself for Life after Death
Hazrat Salman Sauri (RA) narrated that he saw a man holding Gilaphe-Kabba (a huge covering used for protecting ALLAH’s house, that we call Kaaba Khana) and asking for mercy of Allah. I went close to him and asked about the matter. He stated that we were four brothers, all the three died and I was the only left so far. They all were in trouble at times of their deaths and I didn’t know what would happen with me.
This is a point of great wariness that a man spends whole life being a Muslim, does all the good deeds, follow alls the Islamic traditions and teachings of Allah but does a mistake in last days of his life and it might be he commits suicide, hurts someone or denies to admit ALLAH as ONE.
The matter can be illustrated with a fine example that there was a Muslim guy, he was caught by the Christians and appointed to serve two priests. He used to recite Quranic verses while performing every task. The priests used to listen carefully to what he used to recite. A time can when Quran softened hearts of the two priests and they embarrassed Islam but that guy got converted to a Christian. The new converts tried their level best to bring him back to Islam but he kept on denying and finally died as non-Muslim.
There are so many such real eventualities in the world. On the contrary to the previous incident, there were two brothers; one was a true Muslim who used to be very obligatory in following Islamic teachings while the other was quite ignorant to what Islam is. His brother endeavored a lot that his brother come back to what he is now. His preaching didn’t even affect him until the time came when he was caught by cancer and his life was restricted only to his bed.
That moment, the Muslim brother again tried to convince him and thought it would be his pleasure if his brother accepts Islam. Listening to his teachings, the patient brother requested to bring Quran. Once he showed consent, the other brother became very excited and brought Quran to him. He looked at the book and felt he has been an infidel whole of his life. While gazing at Quran he kicked his bucket.
The holy prophet (PBUH) said:
“While dying, if sweat appears on the forehead, tears start coming and nostrils gets opened, the departed soul is awarded with blessings of the Almighty, Allah. While if at the moment of death, one’s throat produces a voice like being suffocated, color of face appears dull and mouth produces bubbles, the deceased is a person who died facing rage of ALLAH”.
According to the Islamic scholars, there are four primary causes when a person faces hard time while dying.
- He/she pays no attention to SALAH (a practice that Muslims perform five time a day to show their presence to ALLAH) and puts lame excuses
- He/she is not an obedient person of parents
- He/she hurts a Muslim
- He/she takes wine, forbidden strictly in Islam.
May Allah empower us to perform noble deeds, shower his blessings upon us all and safeguard us all.
This is a registered fact what our scholars say and none can deny these facts. There are a plenty of incidents that proof these Islamic teachings. Another event, there was a boy who was almost to die and was facing hard time. People around him tried their utmost that he should recite KALMA before leaving this world. He was advised to speak but his throat couldn’t support him. When asked, they all came to know that he used to disrespect his mother. They requested the mother to forgive him so that he can die with peace. After sometime, the mother forgave him; he recited the Quranic verses and died.
Likewise, when a man before his death was asked to recite KALMA( a line of words that a person first learns when he/she enters into Islam), he refused to speak because he said he had been living among the people who told him to abuse the companions of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Most of the people who are Muslims just by names have been seen dying in severe ways. The people who just remain busy in their business for whole life, pay no attention to what they are expected as a Muslim, and such others have experienced very tough times while dying.
The world is full of such events when people dying were observed talking about useless things instead of reciting Quran. A man speaks of money as he used to sell goods, another talks about friends while playing cards and one more has words regarding customers as he used to trade in clothes. This is the moment of a huge anxiety for us all. We should pray to Allah that HE be merciful on us, show us the right path, let us live as per HIS teachings and die peacefully.
We should pray to ALLAH that HE be merciful on us and bless us with death of martyrs so that HE be happy with us and we die peacefully without having any pain in our hearts for the life after death. For this, we are supposed to perform some very important deeds that are easy to execute and mentioned as below:
- Always be thankful to ALLAH that we were born as Muslims. Quran says:
“He who is thankful is blessed more and more with blessing of the Almighty”. Thus we must be grateful for what we have and keep on thanking HIM on every single blessing by reciting verses of HIS book, Holy Quran. This can be done in many ways like, “O Allah! Protect us all, shower your blessings, we are grateful to YOU that you raised us as a Muslim, increase our beliefs in Islam, show us the right path, the path of those whom you blessed not of those on whom you showed your rage”.
- The important pillar of being a pure and true Muslim is to establish friendly relations with everyone; either it’s a relative, friend, colleague or neighbor. It’s stated in Hadith (the sayings of Holy Prophet PBUH) that none can be a good Muslim until he/she rebuilds relations with those who broke it, forgives those were cruel to him/her and does good to those who were bad with him/her.
- It’s narrated that Mutlab Bin Abdullah (RA) were quite ill until he reached the last moments of life. The pain of dying was so severe that he became faint and people around him started prying to ALLAH that HE be kind to him, merciful for his good deeds he had done in his life and give him a peaceful death. After listening to all this, Mutlab Bin Abdullah (RA) opened his eyes and said that the Angle of Death stated being kind to every generous and true Muslim after their death. Saying this, he died.
