7 steps to deal with difficult situations

7 steps to deal with difficult situations

Hardly anyone would disagree with the fact that life is a constant struggle between good and bad times and it is during hardships when a person realizes his true strength. It is completely natural to feel mentally and emotionally challenged during tragic times and give up in face of a hard situation. But for a believer, the entire situation has a totally different outlook. The one who has complete faith on Allah and His mercy thinks from a higher perspective and instead of giving up, he analyzes the situation and tries to sort out the problem in the light of Islam. He remains patient during hardships as per Sunnah and calmly finds a way out of it.

What makes a Muslim so composed and confident during his hard times? It is his utmost trust in Allah and the belief that his Lord would not let anything bad happen to him unless it’s a blessing in disguise. Living according to the will of Allah, avoiding His anger and seeking His pleasure is the ultimate goal of a true Muslim. Above all, patience is the key to get rid of problems as Allah Himself has promised in the Quran,

So in times of pain and loss, agony and sorrow, hardship and calamity, do not look for temporary comfort by seeking the worldly pleasures. Every materialistic being has the potential to break us again thus it is best to look forward to Allah during difficulty because He is the best provider of all. Our Lord has provided us with various powerful tools that we can opt for to fight the difficult times. Even if they don’t seem to solve the issue at that moment, following these steps may bring you mentally at peace and you’ll find things getting easier with passing time.

Istaghfaar – The Cardinal Supplication

SALAH

Allah has not made Namaz the second pillar of Islam without a reason. Prayers have an immense healing power and they strengthen the bond between the Lord and His creation. And who can heal hearts better than Allah? So make sure to never let go any of your prayer and submit to Allah with utmost sincerity because He’s the only one who listens and blesses.

“And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah].”  [Qur’an: Chapter 2, Verse 45]

RECITATION OF THE HOLY BOOK

Quran is the most beautiful gift of God for His creation. It is indeed the finest piece of literature and is the book of divine guidance for humanity. It is an inimitable miracle of God which encloses solution to possibly every problem that exists. Recitation of Quran imparts peace to the soul and the person can’t help but find solace in it. Make a habit of reading a few verses daily so you can become capable of hunting down answers in the light of Islam. Without a doubt, Holy Quran is a manifest beacon of light for the people in order to guide them aright and help them in all their needs. Allah Himself described His book in these words,

“…… and We have revealed the Book to you explaining clearly everything. It is guidance for mankind and clear evidence of discrimination between right and wrong.”

MAKE DUA

Allah’s mercy is guaranteed for anyone who implores Him and makes dua in His way. Dua has the power to change destiny then wouldn’t it be sufficient enough to get you out of your hardships? The repetition of this basic dua can heal anxiety and lighten the hearts.

“O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being over powered by men.”

GIVE CHARITY

Sadaqah is the best way to get rid of bad times. Spending in the way of Allah saves from mishaps and tragedies and is the easiest worship to perform for it doesn’t require money or worldly wealth. A mere act of kindness is also considered a Sadaqah. Allah clearly mentions the superiority of this act in Surah Baqarah,

“Those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”

Charity – the ultimate act of virtue

BE AMBITIOUS AND FUTURE-SIGHTED

Replaying the memories of bad times would further make you demotivated and hinder your success. Don’t let Shaitaan make you go into the depths of depression. Instead, get up, have a vision and set goals for your future. Do what you think is in the best of your interest and Allah is there to provide ease in whatever task you undertake. In short, stay positive during all challenges and face them with courage. After all, when Allah is with you, who can dare to stand against you?

WAKE UP EARLY

The time of dawn is when a person’s productivity is at its peak. Waking up before Fajar helps you stay fresh throughout the day, thus increasing your efficiency and creativity several folds. So make a habit of getting up before sunrise, pray Fajar because prayers are the ultimate guidance and then work on your ideas and projects. Keeping yourself busy is an excellent way to move away from tragic events and overcome challenges. No wonder these are the blessed hours so try and make the most out of it! The importance of Fajar prayer is highlighted in this Hadith,

“Whoever prays the Fajar prayer, he or she is then under Allah’s protection. So beware, O son or daughter of Adam, that Allah does not call you to account for being absent from His protection for any reason.”

BELIEVE IN HIS JUSTICE

A true believer needs to have faith in his Creator that every ordeal is bestowed for the betterment of an individual and thus it makes him stronger in the long run. So never doubt the intentions of Allah and always stay grateful to Him for His innumerable blessings.

“…Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants.” [22:10]
