“When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.”

Being a couple there might be a few things you have to avoid while fasting. There are some rules which cannot be broken in order to keep the sanctity of the fast but there are many other ways to show love for your spouse.

Sexual relations are strictly prohibited while fasting that is from dawn to dusk. According to an ayah:

“It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you.”

Here are some awesome tips to keep your love existent and alive throughout this holy month.

1.         KEEP PATIENCE

Muslims while fasting are forbidden from eating or drinking. But that is not what a complete fast is. There are many other moral values to be followed. Patience is one of the most important practice throughout the day. It’s not just the stomach we accustom to patience. We have to stay patient in our behaviors too. It’s important for both the people in a couple to stay calm and patient to each other.

Being a husband, if you come home from work and you get frustrated due to hunger or thirst, don’t let it out on your wife who has been having a hard fast too. Rather stay patient and calm and help each other keep the fast. Similarly being a wife, stay patient if your husband tries to take out the frustration on you. There will be great rewards for you against these small deeds.

  1. TAKE TIME OUT FOR EACH OTHER

Taking time out for yourself is a very difficult thing to do in Ramadhan, Let alone taking that out for your spouse, especially when everything is a circle of mess. Although it is an important act to keep your love alive and on track. No matter how hard it gets take some time out for you partner, hear them out even if it gets hard for you. It’s your duty to make time for each other.

Make sure you keep each other happy and please each other. Help each other in each other’s tasks. If you please your spouse you please Allah Almighty and the bond keeps getting stronger.

  1. OFFER YOUR PRAYERS TOGETHER

A fast is all about praying to Allah Almighty while you are in the state of fast. Allah Almighty gets so pleased if he sees anyone making an extra effort to earn His blessings.

It would be a beautiful thing to get closer to Allah Almighty together. Another way to keep the marital bliss is offering your prayers together. Make each other offer their prayer in time and if possible do it together.

Believe me it will nourish your relationship and Allah SWT will strengthen your bond more and more.

  1. HAVE YOUR MEALS TOGETHER

In Ramadhan, usually there are not so many meals in a day. There is a meal you take before dawn (sehri) and one at dusk (aftaari). Make as much effort as you can to have both the meals together.

Make each other dishes at iftaar since that’s the meal to be taken after staying hungry for the whole day. Eat with each other and praise the efforts made by each other.

  1. LEARN EACH OTHER’S LOVE LANGUAGE

Learning beach other’s love language is like learning the key to success. If you know what are the little things that make your spouse happy try and keep doing that to the maximum level. Listen to each other and support each other rather than bringing criticism into small matters.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ says

“Whichever woman dies while her husband is pleased with her, then she enters Paradise.”

So try to learn the little secrets and make each other’s day by doing those things.

  1. SHARE THE WORK LOAD

Another important tip to make each other happy is share each other’s work load. There is a lot of work for both the individuals to manage. If you can’t divide the work at least make each other schedules to help manage the time and work load.

Husbands can help their wives in the kitchen whereas the wives can help the husbands by telling them ways to manage the work. This will make the work easier and the love for each other stronger.

  1. STAY CLEAN

In the busy Ramadhan routine, when everything gets fussy it’s difficult to stay all clean and dressed up. But to leave a good impact on your spouse’s mood, you better make yourself look good for each other’s sake.

Wear perfumes, take showers and wear clean clothes. Make your appearance attractive which will definitely bring a good color to your and your spouse’s day.

  1. ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER

As the main purpose of this month is to collect the blessings of Allah SWT, make your spouse do all the hard work and efforts to collect them.

Send each other Hadiths and Ayahs and make each other recite the Holy Quran each other.

Encourage each other to make prayers at the time of dawn and dusk and tell each other how it’s the foremost duty of a human to keep the Creator happy.

This will not only help you make place in each other’s hearts but also make you acquire a high place in Jannah Insha Allah.

  1. MAKE DELICIOUS AND HEALTHY FOOD ITEMS

You need to keep the nutritious value of the food you take at the time of Sehr must be really high since you need to keep the energy level at the peak throughout the day.

As a woman make delicious foods at the time of Sehr and Iftaar and as a husband bring home food items which are healthy and delicious and liked by your wife and children. This will bring a positive atmosphere to the dining table and you will stay refreshed throughout the day.

  1. GET EACH OTHER GIFTS

Gifts are the best way to make a path to someone’s heart. Since you both are so exhausted and tired from all the effort you make throughout the Holy Month, gifts are a way to bring a smile on each other’s face.

Allah Almighty rewards us with ‘Eid Ul Fitr after the Holy Month and we all celebrate it with joy. So get each other things for ‘Eid that gets the other one happy. Gifts are always a way to show love and care for each other. Increase the amount of gifts and make your spouse happy and cherished.

To sum up life gets a lot different and a little harder in Ramadhan but keep your marriage healthy and love alive by making these little efforts.  You can always get closer to your spouse and Allah SWT will definitely be pleased In sha Allah.
